This paper model of a house with a giant dormant cockroach underground was made as a gift. Inspired by a private joke and a frame which needed a new lease of life.

Shelf Life

Another creation for my pending website homepage, here's a little paper bookshelf I made last week to go alongside the miniature red armchair. The bookshelf was actually a box of dates (blurgh) that with a little editing made a sweet book unit with bottom sliding doors.

The Untrue Story of Monty Python's Graham Chapman

Exciting news... the feature film I worked as a model maker on is being screened as part of BFI's London Film Festival in The Empire in October before its general UK release in January next year!

Rock it on this rocket

In the small hours of the morning we finally wrapped the Mila Falls music video for her catchy, fabulously pop track Party in the Stars after a non-stop 3 day shoot. Working as Production Designer I designed and made all sets, props and miniatures along with my brilliant beyond brilliant right hand woman Iriini.

The rushes are currently in the editing suite so stay tuned for the final cut but in the meantime here are a few behind-the-scene sneaky peaks...

A few finishing touches

Riini: A different take on table dancing.

And thanks to Iriini for having the sense to take these lovely photos on set

A break from the Space stuff

A few more robot pics. Special thanks to Lexi Flemming at Rock-a-Betty for the fabulous camera work and my assistants on the day for their great work in the chill.

'You alright in there...'

Steady now Alison...

Mooning Around

On today's agenda... sculpting the 6ft block of poly which was delivered to the studio this morning for the moon scene of the 'Space Video.' This will be used as a green screening, Button-Moon inspired, set. Lick of paint on site and it should be ready to roll.
Unfortunately the studio now looks like a grenade went off in a snow globe and WE look like we could use a gallon or two of Head and Shoulders.
Memo to self: time to invest in a large enough hot-wire.

Iriini making snow angels in poly pearls when she thought I wasn't looking.
Sometimes we actually get work done.

Interstellar Architecture

The last couple of weeks has been all hands on deck after leaping back onto the 'Space' job. And after rolling our universe up in bubble wrap, slinging the asteroids in a box and relocating to a bigger studio, work has FINALLY begun on the construction of the cockpit!

The set is entirely made up of cardboard and plastic lids, with a supporting timber structure behind to create the free standing flats. Simple enough really, and as Iriini would say 'not rocket science.' Except that it actually IS! Anyway enough of these poor interstellar puns, here are some quick snaps of the progress, lighting tests and our fabulous ghetto gold Captain's chair. Its out of this world. (I'm stopping now...)

Camberwell Art Festival

So my paper models for the Camberwell Art Festival are currently living in House Gallery on Camberwell Church Street, on a billboard on Coldharbour Lane and on the pending website. Pheeew. Pop down and have a looksee, if anything for their IMMENSE sandwiches!
Special thanks to Boy Wonder (Johnny) at Explosive Brands
